Donations: Give the Gift of Breath

Did you know that one in four people in America die from respiratory-related disease?

Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute (LRRI) is dedicated to respiratory research.  LRRI has many scientists dedicated to the study of COPD, emphysema, asthma, lung cancer, and pulmonary fibrosis.

Donations are an opportunity for members of the public, foundations, and philanthropists to contribute to respiratory research that could help millions of people "breathe easier."

Your donation will help to support our scientists and cutting-edge research that will help prevent and treat many tragic respiratory diseases that impact 20% of family members across the U.S. As a nonprofit organization, your donation is partially tax deductible. Contact Executive Assistant Frances Laur at 505-348-9361 for more information.

Your donation will benefit the 80 million people who suffer from respiratory disease—either as a patient of asthma, lung cancer, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or as a caregiver who assists loved ones in their struggle to cope with lung disease.

·  80 million Americans suffer from serious respiratory diseases - either as a patient, parent of a patient, or spouse or partner of a patient.

·  52 million Americans are acutely touched by asthma.

·  120 million people suffer  serious respiratory allergies,

·  17 million Americans have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

·  Minority populations bear a disproportionate burden of all respiratory diseases.

·  Lung cancer is the most prevalent cancer. More people die of lung cancer than breast, prostate, and colon cancer combined.

Total U.S. Population: 272,691,000

Why Donate?

Dear Friends,

One out of four people in this country will die of respiratory disease. That is an astounding fact. And what's more, each year, the healthcare and other costs associated with asthma alone add up to $6.2 billion. Lung cancer kills more than twice as many women as breast cancer, and more than twice as many men as prostate cancer. I could go on, but the point is that the respiratory health burden on this country is substantial. And yet, respiratory disease is one of the most inadequately studied.

That is why Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute has devoted its research resources to curing respiratory disease. We are one of the nation's largest, independent, non-profit basic science biomedical research organizations, and the nation's only such organization wholly dedicated to curing respiratory disease. Our scientists and staff are committed to curing respiratory disease through research aimed at understanding the causes and biological mechanisms; eliminating exposures to causal agents; and developing better treatments. We cover the whole research spectrum, from basic research to clinical trials. We recognize that scientific creativity is impossible without adequate financial support. We now seek your help, commitment, and financial support. Our goal is to find cures for and eliminate respiratory disease.

Planned giving offers a variety of ways to help fund research now and in the future.  We greatly appreciate your continuing support.
